I’m a constituent and I know it’s not often you hear this but I wanted to reach out to say fair play to you and your Fianna Fáil councillor colleagues across the country for standing up against the Land Development Agency Bill.

As you know, the bill would strip away decision making powers on housing from local Councillors and will make decisions on what happens to our public land further out of reach.

I am pleased to see Fianna Fáil councillors around the country backing motions rejecting the bill and speaking out against it. Well done on everything you’ve done on this so far but please continue to stand up against the Land Development Agency bill and keep the pressure on.

The bill is in the Oireachtas committee at the moment and it doesn’t seem like the Fianna Fáil Minister for Housing is listening to councillors in your party, or public opinion on this, yet. He's meeting the Oireachtas committee again tomorrow so there's a big opportunity to act ahead of that.

Will you raise the issues with the Land Development Agency Bill with your party member Minister Darragh O’Brien and ask him why he is rejecting amendments in the committee that would allow councillors to keep the decision making powers on public land?
