Call the Taoiseach & Minister for Foreign Affairs

Egypt and Mauritania triggered a Uniting for Peace Resolution.

The vote was held on 12th December 2023.

Thousands of Uplift members emailed, phoned and tweeted the Taoiseach, Minister for Foreign Affairs and the UN Ambassador for Ireland and made sure that Ireland supported the motion along with 152 other countries.

The motion needed a 67% majority but in the end received an 82% majority.

It's unclear how the next stages will play out as the US and Israel rejected the motion so achieving peace in spite of their opposition will be difficult. The Uplift staff team will continue to monitor the situation and provide relevant updates.
